Child & Family Therapy for ADHD, Anxiety, and Emotional Health
We’re mamas on a mission to educate families about living well with anxiety and ADHD.
How do I stop my child's emotional outbursts without yelling?
Working differently, not harder, is often what helps break the cycle. When a child has frequent emotional outbursts, the behavior is only part of the picture. Anxiety, ADHD, emotional regulation difficulties, developmental factors, family stress, and other behavioral health concerns can all contribute to what parents see at home.
A clinical assessment can help identify factors contributing to the behavior and determine whether an underlying behavioral health concern may need treatment.
Kelly Williams, LCSW, and Teresa VanPelt, LMHC, bring more than 50 years of combined clinical experience to their work with children, adolescents, and families. Together, they have supported more than 1,230 families. Both are licensed Florida mental health professionals who provide behavioral health assessment, diagnosis, and therapy.
Rather than focusing only on stopping the behavior, therapy can help children and parents understand contributing factors and develop practical skills for regulation, communication, coping, and connection.
What causes intense emotions, ADHD meltdowns, or anxiety in kids, and can therapy actually help?
Yes. Therapy can help children and teens develop practical skills for managing anxiety, intense emotions, worries, and challenges that can accompany ADHD. Cognitive behavioral therapy, or CBT, is a well-established approach for childhood anxiety and helps children understand connections among thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and physical responses.
For children with ADHD, therapy may also address emotional regulation, coping skills, problem-solving, communication, and family support.
Kelly Williams, LCSW, and Teresa VanPelt, LMHC, use evidence-informed cognitive behavioral strategies, family therapy, emotional regulation skills, and practical guidance for parents based on each family's needs.
